Leoni Meadows Leadership Convention 2010

Friday Sept. 10, 2010.
Michael and Christina arrived first, around 3 pm.
When they went into the lodge the leaders (red shirts) where still
setting up the tables. Michael got their room keys and drove next door
to the Leoni Meadows Lodge and moved their suitcases into their room.
It was a very comfortable day, around 65 degrees.
Having settled in it was time to get some rest before the busy evening ahead.
Next to arrive where Carlos and Karen, around 4:10 pm.

Traffic had been relatively mild. About 2 1/2 hours.
Check in was a breeze and we got several tickets for the
5 pm train ride.
We got lucky and parked right next to the lodge and right next
to Michael and Christina.
After settling in, we found out Michael and Christina where
right across from us and we invited them to go on the train ride.
We all walked down to the train station. Upon arrival we realized we
had lost one ticket. We explained our predicament to the conductor.
He listened to us, seemed to understand but could not let us all in.
Our luck changed when another passenger offered us an extra ticked
he had and all was well.

As you can see this is a beautiful train and yes, those are real train horns
and very loud. At night you can hear these horns echo in the meadow from
very far away.
past the Gnome, which we failed to see until we rode past it on our way back, past
the Indian corn milling stone and into the forest that has faces.

We stopped at the end of the loop, saw the golden spike. This is the second gold
plated golden spike, the first one was stolen off the train before it was installed.
Most everyone got off the train to see the spike.

The train arrived back at the lodge around 6:05 just in time for the first of many
